Lila’s dull and dreary life could use a little magic. Maybe it’s closer than she thinks.
Lila and her mom, Dana, are barely managing to make ends meet. Their living conditions are less than ideal and now that it’s winter, the cold is a bitter reminder of their inability to pay the electric bill.
In the midst of their struggles, Lila begins to have strange dreams. At first, she dismisses them and even forgets. Her worries about her mom’s declining health and keeping their house are overriding her curiosity about the strange dreams.
Soon the dreams become more intense and when they are too loud for Lila to dismiss any longer, she is thrust into an entirely different world from which she cannot wake. Is her mother going to be ok? How can she get home? Does she even want to?
